Job overview

Head of Learning Support for January 2018

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic Head of Learning Support. The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher with a level 7 or further qualification in SEND. This post would suit either an existing Head of Learning Support/SENCO, or a suitably experienced teacher to lead a department of three.

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified and motivated teacher who genuinely wants to help develop and promote student progress by leading a team of experienced staff and help to further embed learning support provision within the teaching and learning at King’s.

The successful candidate will manage the department, assess prospective pupils and screen new pupils, support pupils and provide advice to both staff and parents as part of a whole school approach to learning support. The Head of Learning Support will work closely with colleagues throughout the school and will have an overview of those pupils identified as having a SEND. He/she will help ensure that the correct provision is put in place to guarantee that these pupils have access to both the curriculum and examinations and in doing so provide the pupils with every opportunity to succeed.

Please e-mail: recruitment@kingsbruton.com for an Application Form and further details.

Values and vision

King’s Bruton is a smaller independent school and, as such, its values and vision revolve around the tight-knit community of students that it has cultivated. The Somerset school promotes a sense of loyalty, determination and encourages pupils to go above and beyond both in and out of the classroom.

Emphasis is placed on inclusivity and promoting diversity within the school. King’s Bruton aims to foster a culture of acceptance and respect in all aspects of school life.

ISI report

“Relationships between staff and between pupils themselves are appropriate, and in their questionnaire responses the vast majority of boarders agree that they get on well together and feel safe in their boarding house. Staff are dedicated to the welfare of all pupils and provide a suitable structure for them to develop and thrive. Pastoral policies and procedures are effective and good behaviour is promoted.”
