Job overview

“Mathematics is a place where you can do things which you can't do in the real world.” - Marcus du Sautoy

In some ways, Barr Beacon is a school which feels quite different to the ‘real world’. For one thing, it’s a place where being a geek is celebrated. And it’s not just our maths teachers who are passionate about their subject – we are that one of those rare school where the pupils enjoy maths as much as we do.

Whatever your level of experience in the classroom, it’s your passion for your subject that counts above all else.

Whether you’re an NQT or you have been teaching maths for decades, to really inspire the next generation of mathematicians you need the right environment. You need an environment where pupils genuinely want to learn. Our pupils are exceptionally well behaved: you really will spend your planning time on instilling a love of maths, not just controlling behaviour.

We have a plethora of professional development opportunities. For instance, if you want to take a Masters degree (delivered on our school site by the University of Worcester) we will fully fund it. Our CPD is nationally-renowned and bespoke training packages mean you can advance quickly to the next stage of your career.

We always run healthy-sized groups of A level maths so every member of the team has the opportunity to teach the full age range if they want to.

We need a talented teacher of maths who has the passion to provide pupils with the best possible experience of this fascinating subject. Could it be you?

Parents love what we do too. It’s why we’re so oversubscribed, with 4 times the amount of applications for every place we have.

We urge you to visit us. There’s a real buzz about the place which no amount of words can convey, so please come to see Barr Beacon School for yourself.

If you are already interested in joining us, visit www.barrbeaconschool.co.uk to download an application form and send it to Lynsey Draycott: LDraycott@barrbeaconschool.co.uk

Closing date: Friday 20th April

Early applications welcome

Join an Outstanding team

The word ‘outstanding’ appears a lot in advertisements for teachers – but at Barr Beacon School, it means more. With over 1000 requests for the 252 places available in Year 7 this September, parents would certainly agree. When Ofsted last visited, they merely confirmed what we already knew. Now we are working with two other schools as we help them on their journey to outstanding.

How have we achieved all of this?

Quite simply, we employ teachers who are as ambitious, passionate and dedicated as we are. These amazing people work hard – in fact they work very hard – to ensure that our pupils make the best progress they possibly can.

Whether they are the most able or or the least able, the most advantaged or the least advantaged, every child deserves nothing less than the very best teaching.

Not surprisingly, there’s a real buzz about the place. If you would like to be part of it – and teach children who genuinely want to learn – we would love to hear from you.
