Job overview
We are a school where being a ‘geek’ is not a bad thing – in fact, it’s cool, for both pupils and staff. Whatever your level of experience in the classroom, it’s your passion for your subject that counts. We prize love of learning above all else.
Our pupils are exceptionally well behaved: you really will spend your planning time on instilling a love of your subject, not for controlling behaviour. And the development opportunities are unparalleled. For instance, we run a fully-funded Masters programme (delivered on our school site by the University of Worcester) and bespoke training packages, such as our revered Middle Leaders training, so you can advance quickly to the next stage of your career.
Parents love what we do. It’s why we’re so oversubscribed, with 4 times the amount of applications for every place we have. Teachers love working here too, which means pupils love their learning.
Both Psychology and Sociology are well-established subjects at both GCSE and A level so you will have the option of teaching across the age range.
We need a talented teacher of Psychology/Sociology who has the passion to provide pupils with the best possible experience of these fascinating subjects. Could it be you?
There’s a real buzz about our school which no amount of words can convey, so you might want to visit us before you apply. If so, get in touch.
If you are already interested in joining us, visit www.barrbeaconschool.co.uk to download an application form and send it to Lynsey Draycott: LDraycott@barrbeaconschool.co.uk

Early applications welcome

Join an Outstanding team
The word ‘outstanding’ appears a lot in advertisements for teachers – but at Barr Beacon School, it means more. With over 1000 requests for the 252 places available in Year 7 this September, parents would certainly agree. When Ofsted last visited, they merely confirmed what we already knew. Now we are working with two other schools as we help them on their journey to outstanding.
How have we achieved all of this?
Quite simply, we employ teachers who are as ambitious, passionate and dedicated as we are. These amazing people work hard – in fact they work very hard – to ensure that our pupils make the best progress they possibly can.
Whether they are the most able or or the least able, the most advantaged or the least advantaged, every child deserves nothing less than the very best teaching.
Not surprisingly, there’s a real buzz about the place. If you would like to be part of it – and teach children who genuinely want to learn – we would love to hear from you.
