This is a drill generator. It generates drills for multiplying by powers of 10, dividing by powers of 10, halving, doubling, and rounding - key skills in which pupils don't get enough sustained practice!

I've uploaded it mainly as an example of how to generate drills which lead to intelligent practice. You may have to modify some of the harder questions (e.g. powers of 10) depending on your class; but hopefully, in looking at the formulae used, you should be able to modify it easily. Feel free to message me on Twitter @HinTai_Ting if there's any parts of it you don't understand.

How to use: You can project or print straight off Excel onto a sheet of A4. I use this to make starter booklets: to do that, I copy the table and paste it into a word document, landscape orientation with narrow margins, and it comes out looking funny. I usually have to select all, in word, and reduce the font size, and then it will all fit perfectly onto one side of A4.

Good as a settling task, would need some variation in activity e.g. providing the answer and removing one of the operators

Really great resource. I've adapted the concept for my Y4s. Could easily be changed for any year group.
