About Coombe House School

Coombe House School is an independent special school that provides education for pupils aged 5 to 19 with SEMH and ASD and associated difficulties. All pupils on roll have an EHCP. The school uses a therapeutic approach to support pupils with their individual difficulties. Everything the school does is based on positive relationships and viewing behaviour as communication.

We are seeking candidates who thrive on working in a challenging but immensely rewarding environment, who are passionate about supporting the development of social, life and independence skills and who truly want to make a difference in the lives of pupils. To truly meet their needs, and set them up for successful adult lives, we think beyond conventional education and meet their broader holistic potential and help to influence the society that they are part of to be more connected, inclusive, and compassionate.

We recruit regularly to support the rapid growth of the school.

All staff at Coombe House School demonstrate compassion, understanding and flexibility in their approach ensuring progression is central to all lessons whilst giving our pupils the confidence to grow as they progress. We believe passionately in supporting and nurturing our pupils as well as aspiring to provide them with outstanding and creative learning opportunities.

Some of the benefits of working at Coombe House School include free on-site parking, a workplace set in beautiful surroundings, a competitive salary, use of facilities - gym and swimming pool (at specific times), an employee assistance programme with excellent free counselling support services and opportunity to play an integral part at the infancy of this exciting and unique journey.

For Teachers we offer the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and support staff a 10% employers’ contribution to the NEST Pension Scheme.

What people say about us

“The people I work with are such a lovely and supportive group and everyone really cares about each other and every pupil and that really makes me feel good about coming to work every day. It’s good to feel we have each other's backs, and we all care about the student's welfare and achievements.”

- Holly Gatrell - Art, Design and Technology Teacher

“What I enjoy about my job is the energy and challenge that the young people bring to school every day. This in turn means that I am always learning, even after 26 years of teaching! The most rewarding aspect of my job is the opportunity to enable young people to flourish, find something that inspires them and to see visible changes to their lives.”

- Martin Marshall, Assistant Head Teacher and DSL

There are many things that I enjoy about working at Coombe House School and one of the best aspects of this job is having the opportunity to build positive relationships with our students. Our focus on overcoming barriers and developing mutual trust and respect means that we really get to know the children and young people we are working with, which in turn allows us to really focus on their strengths.”

- Bex Smith, Assistant Head Teacher
