About Shavington Academy
Who we are
Shavington Academy has been a Multi Academy Trust since 1st September 2015 for pupils aged 11-16, serving the villages and conurbation to the South of Crewe. Our catchment includes Wistaston Church Lane, The Berkeley, Shavington, Weston and Wybunbury Delves Primary Schools, though we draw pupils from across Crewe and South Cheshire. Our current school population is 875 pupils; we are currently in a process of significant expansion, due for completion September 24 which will see our PAN increase to 1100 with a year group intake of 210 pupils. The academy’s growing reputation and a number of housing developments locally have attributed to the growth of the academy.
We are very proud of our Academy and believe that our mission statement ‘Together we enjoy, aspire, create and achieve’ underpins our ethos and our collective drive for all pupils both academically and personally. Here at Shavington, we value the ethical and moral development of our pupils, promoting integrity, kindness, gratitude, respect and tolerance across all elements of Academy life, as well as promoting academic success.
Our Academy has high aspirations for all of our pupils to enable them to achieve their potential and beyond. Pupils achieve well, above the national average across a range of subjects within the curriculum. We have an exceptional track record of preparing pupils for post 16 study, as well as the workplace and beyond. We pride ourselves on the Academy values that will enable our pupils to become a responsible member of our community, as well as preparing them for the diversity and demands of the modern-day world.
Professional development
All teachers have professional development opportunities, designed for their career point, and CPDL time is focused on need whether that is whole academy, departmental or at individual level.
We continually review our process and practice to consider the work life balance of our teachers – please see our ‘Staff Benefits’ document for this detail.
We are committed to supporting our Early Career Teachers through the accredited ECT framework and also deliver an ‘Aspiring Leaders’ Programme for third year teachers and beyond, moving on to ‘Middle Leadership’ and then ‘Senior Leadership’ as expertise and experience grow.
Location
Outstanding Headteacher provides clear vision for the school. Uncompromising high standards from her ensure that the school continually improves/refines to create the best chances and learning opportunities/outcomes possible for the pupils. I love working in this school.

- Middle LeaderI started working here in October 2015. I find it a very welcoming school. All my students always seem happy in school and will often talk about things they have been doing or are looking forward to. I enjoy working here.
- Peripatetic Music TeacherStaff welfare and motivation is always a priority for SLT. I feel supported and well managed and have done since starting.
- Middle LeaderThanks to you and your team for all the help and support you have given Sam and Ben over the years. I'm afraid there will be a third one come September!
