West Road Primary Academy

West Road Primary is in the centre of the community of Moorends, near Doncaster. It is a school that is growing in number with further new housing planned in the area. We welcome visits to the school. The children, staff and parents are very welcoming and the many visitors to the school have commented on the ‘family’ atmosphere at the school.

The staff constantly strive to implement new ideas and look for exciting ways to engage the children in their learning. They are positive in their thinking and will give you their full support!    The children love the many visits and visitors that are part of our classroom projects. They are so appreciative and keen to please.

The teaching assistants are many and varied in their skills throughout the school. Every class has its own allocated teaching assistant, with additional TAs supporting special needs or focussed intervention programmes. The experience and impact of the teacher assistants was noted in the recent Ofsted report.

The school building is always under constant review as every school building seems to be, however, we have carried out numerous recent improvements including additional classrooms, internal and external decoration and a new conservatory suite!
We have tried to keep up to date with the new expectations in technology and computing and have the brilliant Sahara Clevertouch screens installed in all of our classrooms. We have an ICT suite as well as laptop and ipad trolleys which support computing etc within the classrooms.
