About The Saint Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy

St Mary’s is a loving, caring and friendly school. From the time children join us until the time they leave, the whole team at St Mary’s endeavour to do the very best to ensure our children are the best they can be.

We pride ourselves on having high expectations, in work and play, and all pupils are just as proud of being the very best they can be. Our pupils have exemplary behaviour and manners, and they are proud to tell visitors, ‘we respect and care for each other- we are a big family’.

We work very closely with parents to ensure that all children have the very best start to their school life. We love to celebrate successes and consider this to be the highlight of any week. We know that life is precious and that every second counts in a child’s development. This is central to our mission and always at the centre of what we do.

All of our children and their families are a vital part of the school community, together with staff, governors, and parishioners from St Mary’s Church

Our school is located in Grantham, a Georgian Market Town in Lincolnshire, close to the Nottinghamshire border, which has excellent transport links by road and rail.

We are currently rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (April 2023):

“The school is a caring and happy environment. Pupils are welcomed each morning with a smile and a cheerful greeting from staff. Pupils know that the adults in school look after them well.”

St Mary’s is strongly committed to the Christian values of love and respect for each other and aims to teach the children to value Christian ideals, so that they become valuable members of society.

Our mission statement:

Christ is at the centre of St Mary’s as we strive to nurture and care for all our

Community members by encouraging them to Believe, Succeed and Soar within

God’s love, to achieve the very best that they can, in all areas”.

Our school is part of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Trust which brings together the 36 Catholic Primary and Secondary schools in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.  Our priority is to ensure the very best Catholic Education for all young people in our community, whatever their circumstances. We will achieve this together, through a strategic approach to sharing best practice, effective challenge and support from a central standards and performance team and opportunities for high quality Continuing Professional Development offered by the CMAT’s teaching school, The Nottingham Initial Teacher Training Hub.
