We have a fantastic opportunity at our Maidstone Campus for an Art and Design Technician. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate in the use of the equipment and in effectively supporting students in the learning areas. The successful candidate will ideally - but not essentially - have experience of working as an Art and Design Technician in an educational setting, or in a similar role and you will be able to support our students in navigating any challenges in their learning.

This support staff role would be suitable for various applicants from college leavers or graduates, current school support staff or technicians, through to trades personnel looking to work in an educational setting. 

 The role is available on a full time, permanent basis of 37.5 hours each week and is term time only.  

Key responsibilities:

  • To undertake preparation of materials for student’s practical work including some IT based activities
  • To assist in the production of technical information that is used by staff and students.
  • To participate in training on and for the usage of various equipment and machines in the department
  • To understand and be aware of health and safety instructions on the use of department resources (e.g. tools, materials, equipment etc) and be able to effectively instruct and supervise students in the safe usage of equipment and machines
  • To have general oversight/maintenance of resources within the relevant departments.
  • To maintain and clean benches, stools and working surface areas in all parts of the department.
  • To report any needs for service, maintenance and repair school equipment and fittings as required.
  • Support remote teachers in delivery of practical lessons via Zoom via student supervision and facilitating queries with the equipment or resources.
  • When requested by teaching staff, to demonstrate the use of different equipment and materials with regards to safety, including providing technical advice, assistance and supervision to pupils during practical’s, project work and assessments.
  • To work with students who have difficulties undertaking particular tasks and to support adjustments for students with SEND. 
  • Where directed, assist the teacher with coursework, delivery of work programmes / lessons and assessments within the specialist area, to include supporting the staging of displays.
  • As required, support students in the Learning Centre through effective coaching that promotes the OSG Learning to Learn framework.

You will have:

  • Experience, knowledge, or a keen interest in delivering practical demonstrations of Technology methods
  • Experience of supervising others in the use of equipment or machinery
  • Awareness of safety issues as appropriate to the post, including health and safety risk assessments
  • English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Experience in relevant discipline or related qualification

About OneSchool Global UK Maidstone Campus

OneSchool Global UK Maidstone Campus (formerly Focus School Linton Park Campus) is an independent, all-through, co-educational, non-selective school for children aged 7-18. It has a strong Christian ethos and there are 195 pupils on its roll. Linton Park is situated in Maidstone, Kent. The school was established on its current site in 2008 in purpose-built accommodation, which has been further developed since including a new state-of-the-art Learning Centre for Primary students.
