We are looking for an Art &Graphics Teacher in a school which offers outstanding opportunities for professional development. Twyford Church of England High School, an Ofsted outstanding school with a thriving Sixth Form, is one of four Twyford Trust schools, and the new post-holder will be joining us at a time of growth. The Trust offers excellent promotion prospects for motivated and energetic teachers who support the ethos of our schools. The post is well suited to both qualified teachers and those in their NQT year. 

The Art Department at Twyford School offers a diverse programme of creative study from KS3 – KS5. At KS3 Art is taught to all students in Years 7 and 8. The students learn skills in the formal elements, and experience with a range of media. In Year 9 students choose Art or Graphics Communication as an elective, this is designed to give them a more diverse experience and provides them with skills to prepare them for GCSE and A Level. Art and Graphics is very popular at KS4 and achieves outstanding results. At A Level students are able to combine or select Fine Art, Graphics Communication and Photography. All three specialises achieve outstanding results with a large percentage of students continuing to Art Foundation or onto a creative degree. The Art department strive to create a learning environment that allows students to express themselves whilst fulfilling the requirements to reach their creative potential.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Ability to teach Art, Graphics Communication to KS4/KS5.
  • Confident digital skills within the Adobe programs.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum and Assessment Objectives.
  • An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments.
  • An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement.
  • An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively.
  • Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement.
  • Energy and enthusiasm and passion for the Arts.
  • A commitment to the ethos of the school.

Twyford CE High School, Acton

Twyford CE High School was set up by the LDBS in 1981. The school has an excellent reputation and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted (May 2012) and SIAMS (April 2017). It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a large and highly successful Sixth Form in which Maths, Science and Computing are the largest areas. Since its inception the school has grown considerably and now admits around 975 students aged 11 to 16, and an additional 500 students to the Sixth Form.

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing. The Trust was established in October 2011 to enable an existing School, Twyford CE High School, to build on its successes and look outward to the large number of parents who were eager to become part of its community. The Twyford Trust aims to deliver outstanding education in a comprehensive school setting, and embraces the Twyford School motto ‘Life in all its fullness’, encouraging students to use their individual gifts wisely and well. Supported by the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), the Trust is the overarching organisation which provides support for all Trust schools. The Trust has a highly evolved common curriculum which has been devised by staff within the four schools.
