Derby College Group (DCG) have a rare opportunity for an experienced senior leader to join us immediately on a 9-month fixed term contract as the Assistant Principal of Early Years and Health & Social Care. We are recruiting to this new role due to growth within the subject areas, our extensive work with local employers and upcoming opportunities with the local authority. The role will primarily be based at our iconic Roundhouse Campus and if you would like to arrange a site visit, please reach out to us.
The Opportunity
Within this role you’ll proactively lead on the operational management and strategy of the curriculum areas. This is a great opportunity to have a lasting impact and drive operational change to maximise the growth of the areas and ensure educational excellence and outcomes for circa 500 students. You’ll directly line manage 2 Curriculum Managers, who in turn lead teams of circa 12 employees.
The student cohort mainly consists of 16–18-year-olds, along with some adult provision and apprenticeships. The study programmes range from level 1 to Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs), and includes T-Levels.
About you
You’ll be an experienced manager who is adept at providing inspirational leadership to drive innovation and build efficiencies. It’s not essential that you have worked in a further education college setting, however you will have a good knowledge of both curriculum areas which will allow you to quickly drive operational change and ensure excellent outcomes for students.

About Derby College
Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
