Job overview
Bacon’s College was established in the Surrey Docks peninsula in Rotherhithe, South East London in 1991 as a City Technology College, becoming an academy in 2007 and joined the United Learning Trust in 2018. Bacon’s has long been an important part of the fabric of the local community in south east London and has served the community in its various forms for over three hundred years. We are proud of that history and contribution and of the way the College has evolved and adapted to meet the needs of its young people.
Bacon’s is a thriving community that is welcoming of students of all faiths and those of none. Staff and students value the distinctive nature of its Christian ethos to which every member of its community contributes. The value system and ethos of Bacon’s is inclusive of all within a strong Christian ethos, characterised by the quality and openness of the positive relationships between students, staff and the wider community. The strength of our ethos was recognised during a SIAMS inspection in December 2019 which graded the College as ‘Excellent’.
Today, Bacon’s sits in modern and well-equipped facilities in an area that is rapidly changing and growing. We are fortunate to offer fantastic media and IT facilities and excellent sporting provision. Learning is at the heart of everything we do and we have the highest aspirations for our students, determined that they can achieve and overcome any barriers that may lie in their path. A significant proportion of our students go on to university each year and a culture of aspiration and achievement is evident.
Bacon’s is embarking on a rapid improvement journey and many of the elements are already in place to make it a fantastic place to work and make an impact.
