We are relentless in our pursuit of the very best for all our students. We understand challenges but do not accept them as limitations. Welling School is an all ability, co-educational 11-18 school, located in the London borough of Bexley. As well as serving our local community we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds and areas. Each of them bringing their own part to make up the Welling School Community. We are proud to be part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) which is one of the largest Multi Academy Trusts in South East England with over 40 Primary and Secondary Academies in the TKAT family. The Role: The school is excited to be appointing an Attendance Manager from September 2023 (or before if available). Our new colleague will understand the importance of good attendance and the direct link to students’ personal, mental and academic development and success. They will know how to promote high expectations around attendance and punctuality and play a key and practical role in improving and maintaining standards. The effect of the pandemic means that many schools continue to face challenges around pupil attendance and so we are looking for someone to join us in continuing to support students and their families in a sensitive and nurturing way but someone who can also take a robust approach to ensuring expectations are clear and that our policies and procedures are well followed. We require someone with strong IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students and the families we serve. Ideally, this person would have a background in attendance, safeguarding or social care and an awareness of legislation relating to school attendance and welfare. Above all our new colleague will have an unstinting belief that every young person, whatever their starting point or circumstances, can make and sustain exceptional progress and that our purpose is to change lives. You will have access to on-going development opportunities and the support of a forward thinking, successful multi-academy trust. You will be joining a team of strong and experienced staff who will do whatever it takes to help you to succeed in your new and exciting role. As well as having a passion for young people and their futures our colleague will:

● be an approachable warm professional with the ability to foster excellent relationships

● be resilient and determined with excellent attention to detail

● be able to design systems and procedures to ensure clarity and efficiency

● have a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to understand people and their own contexts

● be tenacious and well organised with good time management

● be able to recognise emerging trends in data and communicate these appropriately

This is an excellent opportunity to play a significant role in the lives of our young people and have a long lasting and positive impact on their futures. The successful post holder will join a dedicated team of pastoral staff all of whom do whatever it takes to help our students achieve.
