Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

•     Develop and implement a comprehensive Chinese language curriculum that aligns with school objectives.

•     Plan engaging lessons that focus on developing students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Chinese.

•     Integrate cultural components, such as traditions, customs, literature, and holidays, to enrich students' understanding of Chinese language and culture.

Instruction and Assessment:

•     Deliver dynamic and interactive Chinese language instruction using a variety of teaching strategies, including direct instruction, cooperative learning, and multimedia resources.

•     Facilitate meaningful communication and language practice through role-plays, games, storytelling, and authentic materials.

•     Assess students' language proficiency and progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, including oral presentations, written assignments, and comprehension tasks.

Classroom Management:

•     Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and supported in their language learning journey.

•     Set clear expectations and behavior guidelines for language use, participation, and respect for cultural differences.

•     Manage instructional materials, technology, and resources effectively to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Collaboration:

•     Collaborate with other educators, administrators, and parents to support the overall educational goals of the school and promote cross-cultural understanding.

•     Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events to share expertise, exchange ideas, and enhance teaching practices.

•     Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students' language proficiency, progress, and opportunities for language enrichment.

Cultural Enrichment:

•     Organize cultural activities, events, and celebrations to immerse students in Chinese language and culture.

•     Arrange opportunities for students to interact with native level speakers, participate in cultural exchanges, or engage in real-life language experiences.

•     Provide resources and guidance for students interested in further exploring Chinese language and culture outside of the classroom.

Qualifications and Skills:

•     Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language Education, Applied Linguistics, East Asian Studies, or a related field (preferred).

•     Teaching certification/license in Chinese language education (where applicable).

•     Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese, with a strong understanding of Chinese grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuances.

•     Prior experience teaching Chinese language and culture to primary school students preferred.

•     Familiarity with language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies, and materials development.

•     Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural competency skills.

•     Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.

•     Passion for promoting Chinese language proficiency, cultural awareness, and global citizenship among students.

Working Conditions:

The primary school Chinese teacher typically works during regular school hours, with additional time required for lesson planning, preparation, and participation in extracurricular activities. They may work in a classroom setting equipped with instructional materials and technology.

If, during carrying out the duties of the post, the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, any concerns must be reported to the school’s Principal in accordance with Badminton Korea’s policies and procedures
