Job overview

To support training, learning and assessment on a range of high quality, Electrical Installation apprenticeship standards, and the associated administrative responsibilities. 

Key Responsibilities


  • To develop, maintain and account manage relationships with local employers.
  • To deliver high quality apprenticeships by carrying out workplace assessment and delivering underpinning knowledge and support within the Electrical Instalation workshop.
  • To provide ongoing training and assessment so learners are fully prepared for their End Point Assessment.
  • To screen potential new employers to ensure they have a clear understanding of the obligations in respect of apprentices and at the same time complete appropriate paperwork.
  • To ensure that all employers are able to offer sufficient opportunities for apprentices to develop their skills and demonstrate their competency in all areas.
  • To take an active part in the recruitment of new apprentices through contact with local employers – managing key accounts, schools and through events. You will be responsible for securing a caseload sufficient to hit your targets.
  • To complete all required information under the projects to include Initial Assessment and Individual Learning Plan for each apprentice and to regularly review progress against this with the apprentice and their employer to ensure that they remain on track to achieve their qualification timely and to provide swift intervention where students are at risk of falling behind.
  • To ensure that you achieve all targets within the agreed timescale.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and comprehensive progression, performance and target information is maintained using the College’s e-portfolio (Smart Assessor) system for apprenticeship delivery.
  • To lead plumbing and gas course review, lead internal verification and manage external verification procedures within the area alongside Head of Quality.
  • To undertake all other duties that are appropriate to the role and may be required from time to time.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activity and contacts in line with GDPR and the college Data Protection Policy.
  • To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are maintained at all times.
  • To support cross college activities as required in particular the key enrolment and invigilation periods

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

 

Essential criteria:

o Has a Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification. 

o Is an effective communicator, able to deal successfully with all levels of management, apprentices, tutors and employers.

o Is willing to work flexibly, including evenings when required.

o Is conversant with current assessment procedures and able to assess up to Level 3.

o Holds a current driving license and has access to their own vehicle.

o Has an understanding of their responsibilities relating to the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

o Has an understanding of equal opportunities and a positive attitude towards them.

o Be aware of, and maintain compliance with, all school and college requirements relating to Health and Safety.

 

       Desirable criteria. 

o Holds relevant assessor qualifications internal verifier (e.g. A1/V or TAQA) with a relevant teaching qualification.

o Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
