Since opening in August 2024, BC Academy International School - Dubai, has seen great interest from our Dubai community. As such, we are expanding our Secondary School provision as we grow into KS3. We are looking for highly skilled and motivated subject specialists who can lead Teaching & Learning to initially set up KS3 for AY 24/25, and KS4-5 in the near future.

The Role 

BC Academy International School is seeking a passionate and experienced Secondary Humanities Teacher with a specialization in Geography or History to join our expanding KS3 program. The successful candidate will design and deliver interactive lessons that bring the humanities to life, integrating field trips and real-world connections. This is an exciting opportunity to help establish a robust humanities curriculum, with progression into KS4 and KS5 in the near future.

Applicants must be native English speakers and have at least 3-5 years experience working in a British Curriculum school. This role is suitable for a current Head or Deputy Head of Department, or even an aspiring middle leader.

This role is not suitable for NQT/ECT teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, student-centered lessons in Geography or History, aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
  • Create interactive and immersive learning experiences, incorporating discussions, debates, and project-based activities.
  • Plan and lead educational field trips to enrich students’ understanding of geography and history in real-world contexts.
  • Develop cross-curricular links to enhance students’ global awareness and critical thinking skills.
  • Use formative and summative assessments effectively to monitor progress, provide feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Design and implement schemes of work and resources for KS3, preparing for the future introduction of KS4 and KS5 curricula.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching strategies, including the use of technology, to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Participate in whole-school activities, extracurricular programs, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Align teaching practices with inspection and accreditation standards from entities such as the UAE Ministry of Education and British Schools Overseas (BSO).


Essential Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Geography, History, or a related field; a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification with QTS.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school.
  • Native English speaker with outstanding communication skills.
  • Proven expertise in creating interactive, engaging lessons that inspire a love for geography and/or history.
  • Experience organizing and leading field trips to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • Familiarity with the British National Curriculum (KS3-KS5) and relevant assessment frameworks.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in curriculum planning and resource development.


Desirable Requirements:

  • Leadership experience, such as Head or Deputy Head of Department.
  • A Master’s degree in Education, Geography, History, or related disciplines.
  • Experience developing new educational phases, such as establishing KS3 or KS4 programs.
  • Knowledge of inspection frameworks such as BSO, KHDA, or Ofsted, with experience in inspection preparation.
  • Additional certifications or training in experiential learning, fieldwork methodologies, or international studies.
  • Experience teaching in a multicultural, international context.
  • Familiarity with modern pedagogical techniques, including inquiry-based learning and collaborative projects.
