Moorcroft School is looking to appoint Behaviour Learning Mentors (LSA 3) to join the school asap. We are seeking applications not only from people wanting to develop as Teaching Assistants, but also from graduates who are considering a teaching career in special education.
Salary: Scale 5; £23,887 - £25,095 per annum + Special Schools Allowance £1,219 (Dependent upon qualification and experience)
Work pattern: 36 hours per week 39 weeks of the year
Moorcroft is a school for Secondary age young people with Severe, Complex and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, and ASD. We are part of a multi academy trust with a range of special schools and are planning to open two new free schools in the next few years.
Moorcroft caters for a range of pupils and has specialist classes for ASD pupils. As a Behaviour Learning Mentor, you will be supporting a teacher by supporting pupils with challenging behaviour; individually and in small groups. You will provide training and advice for staff and will support teachers with the implementation of a range of interventions. You will also work alongside a range of professionals both internally and externally. There will be opportunities to contribute to cross-school teams both in school and throughout the Academy. There is a wealth of expertise in the Academy with opportunities for training and professional development.
We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking candidate, with a passion for young people with Learning Difficulties, ASD and Challenging Behaviour, to join our team. We are particularly looking for graduate seeking a teaching career in special education sometime in the future.
Moorcroft has recently launched an initiative for graduate teaching assistants where you can gain experience of leading a class before applying for a recognised teacher training course.
We are offering a comprehensive and bespoke induction programme for all new staff.
