The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools providing quality, holistic education to a multinational student body of approximately 1300 students and 240 faculty and staff. The school is organised into two Streams, German and English leading to qualifications in the German International Abitur and I/GCSE & IBDP respectively. We are inviting applications for the following position commencing in August 2025.

The teacher will be required to teach throughout the English Secondary Department (Year 7-13). The successful candidate will prepare students for the IGCSE and International Baccalaureate Diploma examinations in Chemistry. The successful candidate will be able to offer an additional Science, ideally Physics, to at least lower secondary level. The Teacher will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is dedicated to enabling each child to achieve the highest possible standards. At GSIS, our students demonstrate a high level of motivation and engagement in their learning, making them a joy to work with.

 What is required and what we’re looking for

  • Teaching qualification and suitable academic qualifications in the subject area
  • 3 years, or more, teaching experience preferred.
  • Ideas and skills that will contribute to the development of our taught programme in Chemistry, and the wider Science provision at GSIS, is required
  • Experience of, or knowledge of, the IB Diploma Programme in Chemistry would be advantageous.
  • For candidates without experience of the IB Diploma Programme in Chemistry, experience of delivering comparable upper secondary school Chemistry courses to a high level is required.
  • As above, the ability to teach Physics to at least lower secondary level is required. The ability to deliver, and accompanying experience of, the IGCSE programme in Physics is advantageous.
  • The willingness to teach other Sciences, such as Biology or General Scence, to younger students if asked to do so is preferred.
  • Experience of teaching aspirational and high achieving students is necessary.
  • A willingness to contribute to broader aspects of school life, such as the pastoral and/or extracurricular programmes is a must.
  • Excellent English speaker with sound written and oral communication skills (native speaker level)
