Job overview

The International Education Agency of Papua New Guinea is seeking qualified and experienced teachers for one of its premier schools.

The Ela Murray International School is an ELC to grade 8 school in PNG’s capital city, Port Moresby. Ela Murray’s enrolment of approximately 600 students represents families from the Port Moresby area and the expatriate community in PNG. The school is well-resourced with a staff of dedicated and skilled teaching professionals from PNG and around the world.

The IEA invites applications from teachers who are open to the challenges of responding to the diverse needs of students in an international education environment. Applicants must have a minimum of a B.Ed. or Post Graduate Certificate of Education and a minimum of five years’ classroom experience.

Successful candidates must have a solid understanding of child centered education approaches to meet the needs of all learners and nurture student well-being. In addition, they must be able to deal professionally with a range of stakeholders in a dynamic school community. In Grade 6-8, a knowledge of the Cambridge International Curriculum is highly desirable.

The position attracts an international competitive remuneration package that includes housing, annual travel, school fees for dependent children, medical insurance and other benefits. The IEA provides relocation travel and expenses along with all work-permit and visa costs.

A valid driving license and willingness to own a private vehicle are necessary requirements.

To apply, prepare a current CV, letter of application matching the job requirements, and provide three referees in the TES portal.

Stringent reference and background checking will be undertaken including child protection clearances. Appointments depend upon successful work permit application conducted by IEA.

Applications should only be made online at TES.COM.

Closing date 19 August 2024 with a start date of January 2025.

Interviews will be conducted by a variety of means.

Because of the substantial number of applications expected, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
