About The Farnley Academy
The Farnley Academy is part of GORSE, a nationally renowned, trust whose drive is to create exceptional schools for the benefit of the communities in which we serve. GORSE’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sir John Townsley, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Leanne Griffiths are passionate about providing the highest standard of educational experience for all children, regardless of background, across the full age range.
As an Outstanding provider (Ofsted, September 2023), The Farnley Academy is tenacious in its determination to deliver a high-quality educational experience for each and every student. The performance of our students in their GCSE examinations consistently demonstrates that we have the expertise to allow all to secure the Gift of Choice that a strong set of qualifications provides. We regularly speak to our students about the importance of the Gift of Choice; this is where an individual secures the ability to be able to actively choose their next steps rather than have avenues closed off to them as a consequence of a poor qualifications base or skillset.
We are passionate about ensuring our students have a rich and engaging experience so that they can acquire and hone their skills inside the formal curriculum but also within Enrichment++, the academy’s extensive co-curricular programme. We strive to ensure there is something on offer for everyone to enjoy after school. We are very proud of the huge array of exciting co-curricular clubs on offer including within GORSE’s BIG 3 of rowing, karate and volleyball where specialist coaches support students in learning and developing within their chosen sport. Additionally, our students are richly supported by experienced pastoral professionals, and we know how important this is to them and their families.
Daily life within the academy is underpinned by our 3 core values of resilience, ambition and kindness. We consider these to be integral to our students’ success and wellbeing and we are proud that our students positively embrace these core values. To ensure students are fully prepared for their future, we provide an exceptional education relevant to the 21st Century that emphasises traditional standards; maintaining the highest standard is very important to us and is achieved through the consistent application of our rewards based behaviour system, Positive Discipline.
Our aim is to provide the highest quality pastoral care and academic standards, which shape our children’s character and helps develop in our students a keen sense of pride in themselves, their academy and the wider community. Together, staff, students, parents and carers work together at The Farnley Academy to create a vibrant, engaging school where students feel safe, are happy and are able to thrive.
Visits to the academy are very much welcomed.
