Job overview

We are looking to appoint a highly organised and proficient administrator to serve as Clerk to our Board of Governors. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of Governors, Head Teacher and School Business Manager to provide a first class clerking service.

 The main duties include:

  • Providing independent and expert advice to the governing board on its duties and functions.
  • Preparing for and administrating meetings, allowing the governors to make effective use of their time and focus on strategic matters.
  • Advise governors on effective governing board membership considering skills, experience, qualities and capacity.
  • Maintaining records of policies and procedural documents and ensure these are accessible to all.
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements observing confidentiality where necessary.

 

You will have proven experience writing agendas and accurate, concise meeting minutes. It’s essential that you have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and are able to remain impartial. You will require a high level of written and verbal communication skills and be confident in using Microsoft office.

 

You will be required to work 4 hours per week during term time. We are flexible on when you work your hours but you will be required to attend 10 evening committee meetings a year, held on a Thursday and an afternoon strategy session held in June.
