We are looking for career changers and recent graduates to train as Computing teachers.
Dulwich College in partnership with the University of Roehampton has created a teacher training programme designed to help address the acute shortage of Computing teachers. Roehampton University is at the forefront of computing education, with staff contributing to curriculum development, publications and policy at national and international level.
Trainees on the programme are in school from day one and at the end of the year are awarded both qualified teacher status (QTS) and a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE). They undertake a main school placement at one of our partner schools (spanning the comprehensive, grammar and independent sectors) and also a second, six-week placement at a contrasting school. During both school placements, trainees teach for four days per week and spend the fifth at Roehampton University or a hub school for subject and professional studies training, designed and delivered by leading practitioners, including Miles Berry, Professor of Computer Education at Roehampton University. The course is highly subject specialised: trainees receive 14.5 days of subject specific training over the year.
Successful applicants may receive a £29,000 bursary tax free for the training year, subject to eligibility. There are also more generous scholarships available from the British Computer Society (BCS).
For trainees who left education some time ago, there are subject knowledge enhancement courses of various lengths available, for which trainees receive an additional bursary for completing.
Entry requirements for candidates are a first- or second-class bachelor’s degree (or equivalent of) in a relevant subject, in addition to a love of their subject and a desire to work with young people.

About Dulwich College
Dulwich College is an academically selective independent boys’ school in south east London with a tradition of inspired teaching, genuine scholarship and co- curricular breadth. We are a school committed to providing a wealth of opportunities to pupils and colleagues within a nurturing, equitable and caring ethos.
There are approximately 1,630 boys on the school roll, of whom some 130 are boarders. There is a strong history of diversity at the College, reflecting that of south east London generally, but also that we are committed to an expanding programme of means-tested access. Currently about 30% of pupils have such an award but we hope to increase this to 50% in the coming years.
Situated in 70 acres, yet only 12 minutes by train from central London, the College enjoys outstanding academic, co-curricular and sporting facilities, including The Laboratory, a RIBA National Award-winning Science and Arts building. There has also been an extensive refurbishment of its iconic Grade II* listed Barry Buildings and surrounding landscaping.
Further information about the College can be found on our website www.dulwich.org.uk.
