Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Catering Team at Meade Hill School. To be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient operation of all aspects of the catering service including budgeting and assist with the day-to-day management of the kitchen staff.

Main Duties

 

  • Manage a quality, cost effective catering service in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs) or contracts and legislative requirements.
  •  Adhere to pre-planned menus to ensure compliance federations requirements and the school needs.
  • Carry out efficient financial administration, following federation systems and financial regulations.
  • Provide a child focused service, which is courteous and responsive and meets the child’s needs at all times.
  • Manage the team in promoting equal opportunities in the workplace and delivering services, which are accessible and appropriate to the diverse needs of service users.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food hygiene and COSSH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations at all times.
  • Participate in new initiatives and future changes in service delivery improvements to support the client and the aims and objectives of the City Council.
  • Actively pursue own personal development and take full advantage of training provided.
  • Undertake such duties as may be considered appropriate cook in line with the needs of the service.


The ideal candidate will:

  • Be enthusiastic and have an innovative approach to producing great quality meals
  • Be interested in the importance of nutrition for ‘feeding the minds of the future’ and educating the next generation about food.
  • Excellent kitchen abilities
  • Knowledge of COSHH
  • Knowledge of HACCP’s
  • Ensure you follow the rules of health and safety.
  • Require knowledge of dietary requirements and allergens although full training will be provided.
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be flexible and willing with a ‘can do’ attitude

A background of catering experience in similar or other hospitality fields is desirable, however, training can be provided for a suitable and enthusiastic candidate.


Meade Hill

Meade Hill School is a Special School for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. We have recently expanded our provision and now have a brand-new building which has been designed to deliver our therapeutic vision.

Our vision is to create a therapeutic, harmonious environment which promotes feelings of safety and security, to allow our pupils to explore, enjoy learning, and reach their full potential. Building a sense of community around the child. We aim to become a leading therapeutic provision which is high quality and expert in recognising and meeting the needs of all of the pupils, with outstanding teaching and engaging learning. We achieve positive outcomes for all our pupils, including emotional wellbeing and self-belief, creating successful, happy, healthy individuals. Developing skills that enable their ability to sustain employment and build security in their lives.

Endeavour Federation provides education for pupils in KS2, 3 and 4. Our aim is for all our pupils to develop their skills and reach their full potential in a safe learning environment.

Our schools include Castlefield Campus, Meade Hill School and Southern Cross School. All of our pupils have Education, Health and Care plans based primarily on a range of social, emotional and mental health issues. All of the staff are committed to providing an effective learning environment within small class sizes.

The Federation is a partnership of EBSD day and residential schools and settings within and beyond the city of Manchester.
