RESPONSIBLE TO:  Executive Headteacher, via the Data Manager and a member of the Senior Leadership Team

EFFECTIVE FROM:  September 2024

Are you looking for a rewarding career working with young people? Do you want to become a teacher? Are you looking for experience in the classroom? If you have answered yes to more than one of these questions – we want to hear from you.

Chantry Academy is a thriving and ambitious academy, rated "Good" by Ofsted, located at the heart of our local community, and supported by parents and carers. In September 2024, we will be oversubscribed for the eighth consecutive year, and we are proud to be the first-choice school for the local area.

We are looking to appoint Cover Supervisors to join us from September 2024 to provide cover and support for classes on behalf of absent teachers. We are a forward-looking school with a strong reputation in the community. As a Cover Supervisor, you will join our talented support staff team and provide cover for pre-prepared lessons for classes. You will assist students in lessons or undertake administrative tasks when cover is not required.

To be successful, you will be a supportive, enthusiastic, and reliable colleague.

This position is ideal for those who are considering a career in teaching but would like some first-hand, paid experience before committing to a teacher training program. Successful Cover Supervisors have previously included Sports Coaches, HLTAs, University Students, Semi-Retired Teachers, and many others switching from different industries who have a passion for education and/or experience working with young people

If you share our vision and five core beliefs in all situations, we would like to hear from you. This is no ordinary role – we strive to attract extraordinary people.

Relevant school experience would be an advantage, as well as a basic knowledge of IT programs but is not essential as training will be available.

We anticipate a strong field and reserve the right to move quickly for the right candidate.

In return we will offer you:

  •   A thriving, innovative learning community, committed to excellence.
  •   A supportive, welcoming community of professionals.
  •  Extensive support and development opportunities.
