Salary: starting at £25,098 per annum  rising annually to £26,576 per annum (NJC Scale 4 inclusive of Outer London Weighting) 

Hours: 36 hours per week - 7:45am to 3:30pm (Monday to Thursday) 7:45am to 3:15pm (Friday) (term time only plus five INSET days)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly effective individual to become our Cover Supervisor. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our extremely popular and successful school that is committed to providing the best opportunities to students. The role of Cover Supervisor provides stability and continuity for students whose lessons are affected through short-term teaching staff absence. 


The role is ideal for someone who wishes to pursue a career in teaching and wishes to gain further experience in the workplace or someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to play an integral role in supporting teaching and learning in school.


The successful candidate will provide high-quality cover support for lessons and tutorials across the curriculum and support with various duties throughout the school day, including break and lunchtime supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to gain or develop school-based experience. 


The purpose of the role is:

  • to ensure the smooth running of cover lessons in the Learning Computer Centre (LCC) and classrooms
  • to cover the Back on Track (BoT) facility and to supervise internally excluded students  
  • to assist the pastoral team with administration work


The successful applicant will:

  • have the highest expectations of students
  • have an enthusiastic and positive approach within and beyond the classroom
  • have the necessary IT skills to undertake pastoral administrative tasks
  • have energy, stamina and a sense of humour

Ruislip High School, based in Middlesex, is a secondary academy for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 18. Currently there are 1300 students enrolled at the school, located in Hillingdon. It opened in 2006 and was converted to academy status in on April 1, 2014.
