Haberdashers’ Adams is a selective state grammar school with academy status situated in the small market town of Newport in rural Shropshire. It is a newly co-educational school from September 2024, taking approximately 30 girls into year 7. There are five forms of entry and currently about 1050 pupils on roll; approximately 100 of these are boarders. The Sixth Form has about 370 students of whom about 120 are girls.
Key Responsibilities
To provide strategic leadership for all aspects of pastoral care, ensuring a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the academic and personal development of every student. The Deputy Head (Pastoral) will lead a cohesive pastoral team, line managing the Heads of House, Inclusion Officer, Head of Learning Support, Attendance Officer and Lunchtime Supervisor(s) to ensure the highest standards of care and support for students.

Haberdashers' Adams (formerly Adams' Grammar School) is a co-ed selective state grammar school in the market town of Newport, Shropshire. Founded in 1656, the School welcomes boys and girls aged 11-18 as day pupils, with boarding for boys.
Entrance to the School is highly competitive. The most common points of entry are via an 11+ examination for Year 7, or following GCSE exam results. Former pupils of the school are known as Old Novaportans.
