Deputy Headteacher – Academics
Kings’ School Al Barsha seeks an exceptional Deputy Headteacher to join its dynamic leadership team and help drive the school’s success from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner with a proven track record of achievement.
The ideal candidate will have the expertise to lead and manage student progress and attainment through data analysis, policy development, and strategic implementation. They will work closely with the Assistant Headteachers of Teaching and Learning and the Heads of Department to continually evaluate and enhance academic standards.
The Deputy Headteacher will play a key role in the leadership team, supporting the Headteacher in achieving the school’s aims and policies. This includes responsibility for academic standards and curriculum oversight, ensuring alignment with DSIB guidelines. Their leadership, teaching, and professional practice will exemplify the school’s values and philosophy.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant degree with PGCE and QTS.
- At least three years of successful experience as an Assistant Headteacher in secondary education. Preferably an existing Deputy Headteacher.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development in educational leadership.
- Proven ability to maximise student potential, including those with diverse needs, achieving high standards and outcomes.
- Experience in a similar role in Dubai is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Quality
- Oversee student progress, departmental outcomes, and curriculum standards.
- Guide teachers in the effective use of baseline data, target setting, and student guidance.
- Ensure the academic systems, including the school’s MIS and Self Evaluation Form, are updated and robust.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching standards, leadership, and student achievement.
- Lead initiatives such as the ‘More Exceptionally Able and Enthusiastic’ (MEAE) programme and targeted interventions for underachieving students.
Staff Development and HR
- Support staff recruitment, development, and appraisal processes.
- Lead professional development programs and empower middle leaders.
- Manage HR matters, including absence, disciplinary issues, and performance.
Strategic Leadership
- Lead preparations for DSIB inspections and oversee academic action planning.
- Support the strategic school development plan with measurable goals for academic performance.
- Ensure effective collaboration between leadership, staff, and the governing body to meet school objectives.
Operational and Administrative Management
- Oversee timetabling, daily cover arrangements, and the coordination of internal and external exams.
- Manage academic spaces and ensure effective use of resources, including ICT.
- Communicate curriculum updates and academic progress to parents effectively and in a timely manner.
Pupil Performance and Enrichment
- Foster a culture of high expectations for behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
- Develop and oversee enrichment opportunities that challenge and inspire students as well as our staff.
Communication and Community Engagement
- Promote positive relationships with parents, staff, and students, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Represent the school at community events and maintain a presence in school life.
- Support marketing efforts to celebrate and showcase academic achievements.

- The ability to foster collaboration, mentor staff, and implement innovative educational strategies.
