Colegio Gran Bretaña, an internationally recognised private school in Colombia is now seeking applicants for their new Head of School to commence in August 2025. CGB is a highly prestigious private, inclusive, co-educational international day school (Nursery – Year 13) situated in very peaceful and attractive surroundings in the north of Bogotá. The school enjoys double accreditation with CIS and NEASC (the first school in Colombia to achieve this distinction) and is a member of The Round Square Organisation.

Colegio Gran Bretaña is seeking an internationally minded Head of School with experience in delivering an inclusive, holistic, and innovative academic experience to students.

The successful applicant will be responsible for growing the campus to reach its capacity, building upon the school’s rich heritage and culture while charting a new course that will continue moving us into the future.


The school is seeking a successful leader who possesses the following qualifications and qualities:

  • An instructional leader who can deliver excellence in education in an inclusive, intercultural, and international environment, with a South American flavour.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of internationally recognised curricula is essential.
  • A people person with excellent interpersonal skills who feels at ease with the wider community and can cater to their school-related needs on a day to day basis.
  • A strategic thinker who can grow our school community to optimise the use of our educational facilities through increasing student numbers, prioritising excellence in education, building positive relationships with multinational companies and embassies.
  • A results-focused leader and organiser who can prioritise efficiently, motivate and lead a strong faculty and foster the professional growth and development of our staff to achieve excellence in their respective roles.
  • A dedicated and visible ambassador of the school’s Mission and Vision who is emotionally intelligent and approachable.
  • A passionate leader who leads, motivates and builds a strong sense of team.
  • A natural communicator and listener, who understands the importance of getting and keeping all stakeholders on board, both within the school and the wider community.
  • A leader who understands the importance of community within school.
  • An innovator who recognises the role of technology and advancement in an educational setting, cultivating independent thinkers who are able to meet the demands of the twenty-first century.
  • A global citizen, with previous international/intercultural experience.
  • An awareness of International Accreditation processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of Latin American cultures is highly advantageous.
  • English at a C2 level.
  • At least conversational Spanish is desirable - or a commitment to learn Spanish.

The Board’s intention is to appoint the new Director by the end of November 2024, to commence at the start of the school year 2025-2026. The salary will be calculated based on qualifications and experience utilising the school’s salary scale.

CGB was founded to provide a holistic, multicultural education to the highest international standards in the medium of English to a predominantly expatriate population from Nursery to Year 13. We follow the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) from Year 1 to Year 6, the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in Key Stage 3, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Key Stage 4 and the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13.
