About the role

We are looking for a future-focused, motivated and driven Director who will have a key role in the implementation of the Department’s Strategic Plan and Annual Department Delivery Plans, with a particular focus on leading the planning and implementation of contemporary learning and teaching practices to encourage excellence in pedagogy and learning within the Department of Education, Sport and Culture. This is a high-profile, challenging and varied role.

You will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum and pedagogical approaches across the whole of the education system. Working collaboratively with head teachers, other senior leaders, teachers, and external stakeholders, you’ll ensure that the curriculum and pedagogy are aligned with the department's vision and strategic goals.

You will also be responsible for leading, promoting, supporting and sustaining a dynamic learning culture that models the department’s vision and promotes the effective use of evidence-based research for learning. This will be achieved by setting and delivering on an ambitious programme of strategic initiatives, working with a range of stakeholders within the Isle of Man and beyond to ensure that the island is leading on an education for the present and for the future.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working in a leadership team within a school environment and who is significantly experienced and skilled at gaining agreement on complex issues through influencing, negotiating and persuading both internal and external stakeholders.
