Job overview

The Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) will play a key role in shaping and implementing the School’s financial and operational strategy and will work closely with the Head and the Local Governing Body of Godolphin (LGB) to develop and deliver the School’s wider strategic vision.

The DFO reports on a day-to-day basis to the Head, with a dotted line to the Group’s Director of Finance – Independent Schools.

The DFO has overall responsibility for the financial and operational management of the School, including facilities, grounds, catering, IT and data, sustainability and commercial enterprise opportunities, including the effective application and management of resources. The aim is to ensure the smooth running of the School to support the Head and LGB in realising their vision for the School’s future.

The DFO is responsible for delivering the financial strategy to meet the School’s long term objectives and, as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), shares in the strategic development of the School, working with senior colleagues, the LGB and colleagues within the Group.

In this role, the DFO will actively promote Godolphin’s four core values through an inclusive, healthy, and ambitious provision for all, ensuring these values are embedded in the School’s financial and operational practices.

This is a significant leadership position within the SMT of a complex and ambitious organisation. The successful candidate will possess the ability to offer insight and challenge on the key priorities for the School’s development.
