Job overview
The Board of the International School of Lausanne invites applications for the position of Director, succeeding Dr Frazer Cairns after nine years of outstanding leadership. The role will start on 1 August 2026.
Founded in 1962, the International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit International Baccalaureate (IB) World School nestled between the sparkling waters of Lake Geneva and the majestic Alps. Renowned for its unwavering commitment to educational excellence, ISL provides a holistic learning experience that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking and innovation. With approximately 850 students from over 60 nationalities and 250 dedicated staff members, ISL is a truly global community that celebrates diversity. ISL strives to recognise the unique potential of each student, and to equip them to play an active and responsible role in a complex and rapidly changing world.
This is a particularly exciting time to be joining ISL as the school is embarking on several transformative initiatives. The new Impact Hub is set to become a center for innovation and collaboration, benefiting both students and staff. The expansion of student support services ensures that every student receives the necessary guidance to thrive academically and personally. Additionally, the continued introduction of a dual language pathway further enhances students' linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding.
The new Director will serve as a visionary leader, providing strategic, academic, and administrative guidance to further shape the future of the International School of Lausanne. Reporting directly to the Board, the Director will work collaboratively with students, faculty, and the broader school community to uphold ISL’s mission, drive educational excellence, and nurture a diverse, inclusive, and forward-thinking environment where every member of the community can thrive. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an inspiring and dedicated leader with integrity, care, and a global perspective. We seek applications from innovative and progressive educators who can lead one of Europe’s, and indeed the world’s, leading international schools with passion and purpose. The ideal candidate will embody the values and ethos of ISL, bringing a commitment to excellence, a future-focused mindset, and the ability to unite and inspire a vibrant, multicultural community.
