Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a popular and impressive department as a full-time Head of Technology, Engineering and Design. The successful candidate will be a subject expert, ideally from an Engineering or Product Design background, that is comfortable in a practical and workshop environment and have the ability to work with pupils across a range of practical projects; to teach Design and Technology and resistant materials to KS2 & KS3 as well as overseeing the technology curriculum for our youngest learners. The successful candidate will have appropriate professional qualifications (including Qualified Teacher Status) and must be willing to embrace all aspects of prep school life. The Head of Department will lead a subject that we call Technology, Engineering and Design (TED), which also incorporates the Food Technology, line managing the Food Technology Department. Furthermore, the successful candidate must empathise with Beachborough’s mission and vision.

Beachborough School is an 'outstanding', non selective, co-educational, independent day and boarding school. It is situated on a 35-acre site in Westbury, nestled on the borders of three beautiful English counties, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The school has Early Years (pupils aged 2½ to 5), Pre-Prep (pupils aged 6 to 7) and Prep (pupils aged 8 to 13) stages. There are currently around 400 students in attendance, with strong waiting lists. Beachborough has a flexi-boarding facility for children in Years 3 to 8.

Beachborough School was founded in 1910. Pupils may join the school in any year group if there is a vacancy.

All children are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities, including performing arts and physical exercise. Teachers help students to develop their skills while learning about the importance of teamwork, camaraderie and competition.
