The Exciting Role 

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a E-Learning and Immersive learning technologist within our E-Learning Team. The E-Learning Team is part of the Learning and Development Team at NCCG and is passionate about being at the forefront of digital, E-Learning and Immersive Learning technologies. This post would suit someone who would like to be involved in supporting teachers, staff and students to use software to enable them to learn more effectively, use subjects specific and technical technologies that are going to support them in their careers, and develop digital skills to enable them to work more efficiently. There will be a particular focus on VR and immersive technologies to support learning using current software packages and creating bespoke packages for NCCG learners.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative, enthusiastic individual who will work well in a small team to support team to move forward digital and E-Learning developments in our Outstanding organisation. You do not need to be an expert in all the technologies we use, but be confident in the use of computing and IT and be keen learn and develop. This job will offer opportunities to develop your knowledge on various E-Learning and digital technologies, skills on mentoring and training staff, as well as collaborating with other educational establishments. You will be able to attend training and events to develop your own skills to ensure that we can then cascade this knowledge to support staff, teachers, and students. 

The successful candidate will be primarily based at Accrington College but may be required to travel across sites.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain knowledge actively keeping up to date within the field of learning technologies innovation and practice in particular our top 8 software’s and VR/360/Immersive technologies. This includes knowledge of security risk and best practice ensuring compliance with NCCG Cyber security policy, process and protocols, so it is up to date and meets or customer needs.
  • To support the E-Learning team to provide a professional and responsive software management service in particular our Top 8, including analysing and reviewing its effectiveness to customers in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Work collaboratively to assist in providing high quality experience to our learners, college Teams E-Learning, IT, curriculum and external organisations and employers. 
  • Provide advice, guidance, encouragement, support and staff development on the use of interactive learning environments across the college classroom and beyond. – included blended learning, distance learning and immersive technologies. 
  • To provide training and CPDL to staff, students and other stakeholders.
  • Work with the E-Learning team and Employers, and curriculum teams to develop immersive content that aligns to our curriculum. 
  • Contribute to carrying out NCCG digital strategic vision, driving forward new initiatives to continue to improve the Colleges position as an Outstanding provider.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Be consistently curious to seek out and develop new approaches to leaning using new technologies
  • Evidence of continued and current professional updating in learning technology
  • Current knowledge and understanding of IT, e-learning. Immersive learning and information learning technologies
  • Experience of a range of IT systems and software
  • Experience of supporting individuals and teams in developing their skills in information technology
  • Experience of continuous review and improvement
  • Sharing best practice with other individuals and organisations
  • Be willing to undertake CPDL relevant to your role
  • Display initiative, be positive, innovative and enthusiastic
  • Have excellent organisational skills. being able to manage own workload and complete tasks

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
