Goal for the Role

In the context of the School’s EAL strategy, the goal is to integrate students with varying English proficiency into the school’s academic and project-based learning environment, empowering them to access both the learning programme and social relationships, enabling them to attain both academic excellence and 21st-century skills.


Your Goals and Responsibilities

  • Language Expert and Assessor: Assess the English proficiency levels of new and existing students and continuously monitor their progress.
  • Instructional Support: Provide targeted, individualised or small-group instruction and collaborate with subject teachers for in-class assistance.
  • Curriculum Integrator: Work closely with subject teachers to integrate EAL strategies into the mainstream curriculum and support project-based learning.
  • Resource Developer: Adapt learning materials, curate supplementary resources, and develop a library for EAL students.
  • Cultural Advocate: Promote linguistic and cultural diversity, assisting new EAL students and their families in transitioning.
  • Family Liaison: Communicate regularly with families, lead workshops, and engage the wider community in supporting EAL learners.
  • Professional Developer: Train school team members on EAL best practices, participate in collaborative planning, and stay updated with EAL methodologies.
  • Continuous Learner: Engage in professional development and network with EAL professionals for idea-sharing and problem-solving.


Your Qualities and Qualifications

  • Hungarian or EU citizenship or transferable work permit for working in Hungary (essential).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience teaching English as an additional language.
  • EAL/ESL qualification (CELTA or higher preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (essential).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (desirable).
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching the UK national curriculum (desirable).
  • Demonstrable evidence of adapting curricula to engage students and enable high performance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Passionate about education and young people, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • High levels of personal integrity, excellent organisational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, remain calm, and handle multiple tasks proactively.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, adaptable, and striving for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with non-neurotypical, culturally diverse, and EAL populations is a plus.
  • Current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries lived in outside the UK (essential).
