Salary depending upon experience- £39,327 or £45,518 dependant on experience

Location - Inscape House School, Cheadle, Stockport

Contract: Maternity Cover - 1 year fixed term contract 

The Role;

We are seeking to recruit a fixed term (maternity cover) secondary English teacher/English Lead within Inscape House School which is our specialist day school for children and young people aged 5 to 19 years on the autistic spectrum.

Depending on skills and experience we can offer a Grade 4 or a Grade 5 role. 

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is a priority for all employees

Key Responsibilities 

  • Teach the English National Curriculum, including Entry Level or GCSE, to students in Key Stages 3, 4, or Post-16.
  • Adapt curriculum delivery to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
  • Establish and maintain high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students both academically and socially.

Grade 4;

  • Effectively deploy Education Assistants (EAs) to support learning, ensuring their contributions enhance each student's independence.
  • Foster a high level of accountability among EAs for promoting the academic and social development of students throughout the school day.
  • Lead and manage a team of Education Assistants efficiently.

Grade5;

  • Provide professional leadership and management of a subject area, such as leading the English curriculum team.
  • Line manage staff in accordance with Trust policy, supporting, challenging, and developing them to foster a culture of accountability at all levels.
  • Prepare agendas for relevant meetings.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to strategic planning.


 What you will need to succeed;

  • Qualified teacher status(QTS)
  • Experience of working with children who are autistic
  • Excellent knowledge of the Curriculum including, where appropriate, Entry Level, Functional Skills and GCSE qualifications
  • High Level of personal resilience
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education
