Hills Road Sixth Form College is looking to appoint an Exams Administrator to support the work of the Examinations Team during our busy exams and mock exams periods.

This is a part-time, part-year post. Beginning in February, the successful applicant will experience a busy week of mock examinations in early February, before assisting with preparatory work for the main summer exam season, which takes place in May and June annually. Thus, across the weeks worked each year, the role involves both planning work and exam-day tasks, preparing for and assisting with the running of exam venues of various sizes across the college premises.

This post will typically work 12 hours per week over two days (to include Fridays), on-site during term time from February to the third week in June (192 hours over a period of 16 weeks). However, on occasions the hours may have to worked flexibly across this period to meet the demands of the Exams Office. There is also an opportunity to work additional hours as an invigilator.

Due to the current structure of the team, we require the successful applicant to be able to work on Fridays as one of their two working days each week.

Recently rated ‘outstanding’ again, Hills Road Sixth Form College continues to enjoy a strong national reputation for excellence in education. In part, this is because we continually review and refine our practice to enhance the experiences of our students and staff. We also appreciate that academic success requires a happy, healthy and caring community, and our coaching culture ensures that the wellbeing of our students and staff is at the heart of all we do.

If you are excited by the opportunity to work in a team committed to the very best standards of education, we would love to hear from you.

We offer a wide range of competitive benefits including a generous pension scheme, free use of the College sporting facilities, free on-site parking, cycle to work scheme, as well as discounts on all our Adult Education courses.

Closing date: Monday, 13 January 2025 at 9.00am

Interviews: Thursday, 16 January 2025

About Hills Road Sixth Form College

The College operates on an attractive site just over a mile south of the centre of the historic city of Cambridge. Having responded to strong and sustained demand for places over a number of years we now have approaching 2,400 full-time 16-19 students for whom we provide a wide choice of A level subjects, together with the Extended Project qualification, an extensive and varied enrichment programme and responsive individual support and guidance. We also welcome around 4,000 part-time students on to our adult education programme in the evenings and at weekends.  The College is a study centre for the Open University and has a thriving Sports and Tennis Centre that is open to the local community.

The commitment and excellence of our staff together with the breadth of the curriculum make the College an exciting and enjoyable place in which to learn. Students are encouraged to achieve the highest standards not only in the classroom but also in a range of extra-curricular activities which help them to develop new skills, think independently and exercise their responsibilities as global citizens. We encourage staff and students to contribute strongly to College life and to enjoy its many opportunities. There are good relationships and a real sense of partnership in learning between staff and students, and many visitors comment on the College’s happy and purposeful atmosphere.

We are proud of the College’s national reputation for excellence and in our last two Ofsted inspections we were rated outstanding in all graded areas. The College has had the highest score of any sixth form college in the country in the Government’s examination performance table for ‘points per examination entry’ since the tables’ inception in 1993. In recent years the tables have included the percentage of students achieving at least AAB at A level in at least two of the Russell Group's 'facilitating subjects' with the College recording the strongest sixth form college percentage in each year. Retention and success rates are high and over 90% of our students progress to higher education.

The College is a stimulating and rewarding place in which to work and study. Facilities are excellent with new and remodelled purpose built accommodation. Our staff are valued and enjoy working in a friendly and supportive environment and all of us place the student at the heart of what we do. Please visit our website for more information.
