Job title : Teacher of History/Geography/EMC and Economics and Social Sciences (7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades)

Type of position : Part-time - Depending on profile, permanent contract or 10-month fixed-term contract (likely to be converted to permanent contract at end of contract)

Working location : Lab School Paris - Paris Campus and Montreuil Campus

Starting date : September 2024

Lab School Paris is an innovative, bilingual, community-based, secular and eco-responsible school. In 2023-2024, it will welcome 120 students from 1st to 10th grade, divided into five cycle classes (multi-age, multi-level). Its pedagogy is inspired by the contributions of pioneers in educational innovation such as John Dewey, Célestin Freinet, Paulo Freire and Maria Montessori, as well as current research in the field of education (educational sciences, psychology, sociology, cognitive sciences).


The school is recruiting a part-time teacher with a good knowledge of English to teach history/geography/EMC in 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades, and to prepare 9th graders for the brevet exam, as well as to teach SES in 10th grade. Previous experience of teaching a middle or high school class is essential.


The teacher will work as part of an international team comprising French and English-speaking school and college teachers, a collegial management team, a communications officer and an administrative manager.


MISSIONS

Working closely with other teachers at the school and with the management team, your main role will be to help implement the Lab School Paris pedagogical project by teaching the humanities to students in 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades.


SPECIFIC MISSIONS

Teach common core skills in history, geography, moral and civic education and economic and social sciences, as well as preparing 9th grade students for the French "brevet des collèges"


-       Prepare 10th graders for International Baccalaureate requirements

-       Participate in interdisciplinary school projects

-       Develop a relationship of trust with students; work with them to highlight their successes and progress on a daily basis, and support them in acquiring autonomy through differentiated teaching methods.

-       Interact with parents and Lab School Network researchers

-       Participate in seminars and team meetings


PROFILE REQUIRED

–     Teacher with good knowledge of school curricula

–     English-speaking or bilingual French-English teacher

–     Taste for teamwork and interest in research

–     Creativity, responsiveness, initiative, open-mindedness, team spirit

–     Experience of the International Baccalaureate approach greatly appreciated

–     Experience using digital tools in the classroom

–     At least two years experience in tutoring a group of students (applications from people with only private tutoring experience will not be considered).

–     Part-time position: approximately 13.5 face-to-face teaching hours per week.
