Become a Graduate Assistant at Walhampton

We are looking for enthusiastic Graduate Assistants to join our vibrant team and fully immerse themselves in the day-to-day life of our school. As a Graduate Assistant at Walhampton, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with our subject teachers, setting up experiments, coaching sports teams, or leading art projects. You'll also play a vital role in our extensive extra-curricular programme, helping to organise and deliver exciting activities that inspire our students. This role is perfect for current undergraduates or recent graduates who are considering a career in teaching or simply wish to gain experience working with young people in a school setting. Accommodation may be available for candidates who wish to be involved in the boarding life at Walhampton. We also welcome applications from candidates to would prefer to live in the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and encourage pupils in your area of specialism. 
  • Collaborate with teachers to prepare exciting lessons and projects, as well as organising resources.
  • Manage specialist equipment such as robots, 3D printers, art resources or sports equipment. 
  • Help core staff in delivering lessons and organising extra-curricular events.
  • Test and develop new educational ideas.


What We're Looking For:

  • Current undergraduates or recent graduates with a relevant degree.
  • High expectations for pupils’ learning, achievement, and behaviour.
  • Strong organisational skills and reliability.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and try new things.
  • Experience with or interest in using specialist equipment like 3D printers and workshop tools.
  • Passion for making a difference in young people’s lives.
  • Creative, friendly, and approachable personality.
