Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced and hands-on Head of Catering Operations at North Star Community Trust (NSCT) has arisen. This role will ensure the efficient and effective operation of the catering service across the Trust. This will be on a 36hours a week and Term Time Only plus three weeks basis.

As Head of Catering Operations, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the health and well-being of future generations by upholding the high standards of food provision for pupils throughout the Trust.

NSCT serves a community in a socio-economically deprived area, where meals at our schools often represent the most nutritious part of the day for some of our children. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that both the quality of food and service remains exceptional, making a significant impact on the community.

You will lead Cooks, Kitchen Supervisors, and Kitchen Assistants across the Trust, ensuring consistency, skills development, and high standards at all times. Additionally, you will focus on minimising wastage, adhering to the budget without compromising quality, and ensuring compliance with food safety, allergen, and health and safety regulations.

NSCT is a Multi-Academy Trust that manages three primary academies, one large secondary academy, and one sixth form, serving approximately 2,600 children. As the Head of Catering Operations, your role is not just about managing catering operations; it's about contributing to our clear vision for improving our children's life chances through equality of opportunity, an engaging and purposeful curriculum, and high-quality teaching and learning. Working at NSCT brings many additional benefits for our dedicated and valued staff, including:

  • CPD and career opportunities across the Trust.
  • Health Shield membership (employee assistant program supporting with wellbeing and offers many attractive discounts).
  •  Pensions scheme.
  • A subsidised canteen for lunches.
  • Free onsite car parking for staff.
  • Cycle scheme (after completing the probation period).

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service.

In line with KCSIE updates, an online search will be conducted as part of our due diligence checks on shortlisted candidates.

Please submit your application as soon as possible. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications.

NSCT is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
