About Discovery Academy
Welcome to The Discovery Academy!
I am very proud to be the Principal of the Discovery Academy where every student is supported to achieve their full potential. Our purpose is that we are committed to “delivering ambitious, high quality teaching and learning, every lesson, every day, overcoming inequality and allowing every student to achieve success”.
We belong to a forward-thinking Trust, encompassing a number of successful local schools and we passionately believe that in education there should be equity for all. I strongly believe that a postcode should not impact the standard of education a child receives or limit their aspirations for the future.
As an academy we have created a culture centred around our core values of Pride, Respect and Commitment to ensure high expectations, positive relationships and support for all our students. I believe having high expectations of behaviour and attitudes enables teachers to teach and students to develop in a caring, supportive environment.
At the heart of everything we do is an unremitting desire for our students to become successful and responsible young people who make a positive contribution to our school and wider community. We work tirelessly to develop the whole child through a range of experiences and opportunities, developing those soft skills, positive beliefs and values essential in everday life.
Parents and our wider community are extremely important to the academy and the learning journey of every student. By working together and effectively communicating, we have the opportunity to give our young people the best possible start in life.
We want all our students to be happy and successful during their time with us, and it is a privilege to work with them to help realise their dreams and ambitions.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you in the future.
Jayne Schofield
Principal
