The Head of RE will ensure an ambitious and inclusive curriculum is delivered across the school, both in and out of the classroom and helps shape our pupils academic and character education.

Key responsibilities:

  • To set, monitor and evaluate the pupil progress in KS3 and in KS4 public examinations to make a measurable contribution to whole school performance
  • To lead curriculum development of KS3 RE, core RE at KS4 and GCSE RE to ensure the delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, ambitious, resourced, high quality and cost-effective curriculum programme 
  • To drive departmental improvement which contributes positively to the achievement of the school development plan and which actively involves staff in its direction and implementation
  • To engage all subject staff in the consistent implementation in schemes of learning


Additional Responsibility 

Whole School Lead for beginner teacher development 

  • To implement an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and impactful beginner teacher programmer in line with statutory frameworks
  • To monitor and support the overall progress of all beginner teachers
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides beginner teachers across the school with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
  • To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide a clear and context specific training experience that aligns with whole school ethos on the Quality of Education
  • To lead on specific area(s) agreed alongside the SLT lead for teaching and learning
  • To observe the practice of teachers and provide accurate and supportive feedback
  • To liaise with the school improvement team in GLT to support our ECTs.
