If you entered teaching to make a difference, you may never have thought about teaching in Kenya. But here’s a chance to make an even bigger difference, in a dynamic country with a buzz about its future and a commitment to great education.

Private schools are widespread within the Kenyan education system and about a dozen UK-style prep schools are at the forefront of primary education. Peponi House is at the forefront of those prep schools.

Located in a leafy suburb of Nairobi, the school has just been almost completely rebuilt with state-of-the-art classrooms and a wealth of other world-class facilities. These new resources enable us to go further with everything we do, and we are making widespread use of the latest technology whilst developing inquiry-based thematic teaching. A very recent ISI Inspection in March rated us “Excellent” throughout. 

Although teaching and learning matter hugely, so does being happy, and first and foremost Peponi House is a friendly and bubbly community, with a palpable sense of family that over-arches everything we do. With 470 pupils and some 45 nationalities, we all learn from each other and there are lots of friendships, with lots of laughter and lots of fun. 

Years 1 and 2 are critically important as the children start their educational journeys, and we are now seeking an inspiring and lively middle leader to oversee the six classes in these two year groups. 

To apply, you must have solid experience in a primary or prep school setting, be naturally kind and encouraging, keen to make the most of every opportunity, and able to guide staff and children alike. You do not need to have had experience in the independent education sector, but you do need to have a real passion for offering an inspirational education, and for encouraging and developing each and every child.

We will be holding initial screening interviews online during December, so please apply as soon as you can, or at least make contact to express an interest.  Depending on your current location, face to face interviews will be held in London on 7th and 9th January, in Nairobi the following week, and online on mutually convenient dates.
