HEADTEACHER

Salary: Group: 7 LPR L29 – L35 - £99,067 - £114,759

+ Non-Residential Allowance of £17,436

Planned Pupil Place = 200

Required from 1 September 2025

Due to the retirement of the current Headteacher, the Governors are seeking to appoint a committed, experienced and enthusiastic teacher with senior management experience to the post.

Elemore Hall is a long established Durham LA maintained residential and day special school for secondary aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. In September 2021 we expanded significantly and became a three site provision with two 90+ place main school sites and a twenty place KS4 provision for pupils with more severe SEMH difficulties. Many of our pupils have additional learning difficulties and needs. We have consistently provided a high quality provision for our pupils recognised regionally and by Ofsted in both residential care and education inspections.

We are committed to the continued development and improvement of our provision.

Applicants will need to provide leadership of a high quality in the academic, pastoral and management fields and be able to show evidence of successful implementation of change.

There is so much to say about the school and the post that an advertisement cannot do it justice, therefore potential candidates are encouraged to visit the school or telephone Richard Royle (Headteacher) for further information regarding the post.

All applications must be made on the standard application form, applicants should also include a letter of application outlining why they would like to work at Elemore Hall School and what they would bring to the post.

Following Safer Recruitment guidelines, only candidates who achieve enhanced DBS clearance, pass a health check and have at least two supportive references (including their most recent employer) will be eligible for employment.

As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.

Completed application forms should be returned to EDGS.Administration@durham.gov.uk.

Closing date for receipt of applications: Monday 27 January 2025
