Holy Cross Catholic High School (full name, Holy Cross Catholic High School, A Sports and Science College) is a mixed, Roman Catholic secondary school for pupils aged 11-16. It is a voluntary aided comprehensive school for about 800 schools and is located in Chorley, Lancashire.

Values and vision

Holy Cross stands for a rich Catholic tradition, based on the Gospels and the teachings of Jesus Christ. The school endeavours to serve the needs of the whole school community, and in particular acknowledges the needs of those who are disadvantaged.

Holy Cross recognises the importance of developing the potential of each person “in justice and equality”, and strives to educate all pupils as a “whole person”, made in the image of God. The school believes in the pursuit of excellence, not only in academic studies, but in everything that pupils do.

Ofsted

“The progress of students has accelerated such that they now make good progress throughout the school, especially in English.Teaching is good and includes skilful questioning and students working together well to help them achieve the best they can.”

“There are good relationships between teachers and students. Students know that their teachers want them to do well and will help them to succeed.”
