The Redway School is an all-through (2-19) local authority maintained special school in the heart of Milton Keynes taking pupils from across the local authority. We cater for 181 pupils whose primary needs are S/PMLD, pupils may also have complex and enduring health needs. We also cater for a small group of pupils with ASC. The school enjoys a range of specialist resources, including a hydrotherapy pool, gym and sensory rooms.

The school works closely with all stakeholders who all share a clear vision for the school, at the heart of our vision is ‘Belonging’, The Redway School is a place where ‘Everyone can Belong’. The Redway School’s greatest resource is its staff. We have a team of dedicated professionals, which includes teachers, teaching assistants and therapists, who work holistically to ensure all pupils can achieve the best possible outcomes. All pupils at the school have an EHCP. Our curriculum has been carefully created to meet the specific needs of our pupils, it both stimulates and challenges.

You should share our ambition for every child to achieve their full potential regardless of the complexity of their needs. We are seeking a headteacher who has:

  • Wide and recent experience with working with children with complex SEND (PMLD) and their families
  • Proven substantial leadership experience
  • Can promote the vision of ‘belonging’ for the future development of the school to continue to develop our school into a centre of excellence in special education
  • The skills to lead, motivate and inspire by being a visible leader
  • A proven commitment to school through a collaborative approach, including working with other schools, the Governing Body and the Local Authority to support school improvement
  • A creative, clear and thoughtful approach to successfully delivering the school’s priorities
  • A flexible, pragmatic and positive approach to managing change
