This school will be the only SEMH school within Cornwall providing a continuum of specialist provision and will provide the support to enable pupils to learn, thrive and succeed in their education.

The school is close to Bodmin with easy access to the A30/A38. The school is due to open in September 2025 and the building works are progressing well.

The school will cater for 65 pupils who are aged 4 to 16 and will serve the community of Cornwall.

The School will be research focussed, innovative and aspirational in its practice where the development of pupils’ SEMH skills are at the centre of their work.

About the role

As the Headteacher, you will develop an outstanding provision, which will transform the educational and future life opportunities of all their pupils.

You will have an infrastructure of support from central services for Finance, HR and IT including a network of supportive Headteachers from other schools alongside central SEN support.

The role would suit an experienced SEN senior leader or Headteacher who is looking to extend and develop their experience of headship and leadership, by leading a school. The successful applicant should have a strong track record at a leadership level within a SEN School and share the school’s vision and values for providing a high quality SEND offer. Candidates will need to be strong communicators with proven strengths in engaging, inspiring, innovating and motivating staff at all levels and working with the local community.

Key objectives

  • Creating a shared vision, that fits within the overall Trust strategy, which inspires and motivates pupils, staff and all other members of the school community.
  • Effective strategic and operational planning, that includes self-evaluation, school improvement and delivery.
  • Outstanding outcomes for children and young people that are a reflection of their needs, abilities and aptitudes.
  • A motivated staff group that are fully engaged in the goal of achieving excellence in all areas of school life and who are committed to continuing personal and professional development.
  • A safe environment that protects the welfare of pupils and young people and staff in the school.
  • Meeting all statutory requirements as defined by the DfE, Ofsted and other external bodies and achieving the highest inspection ratings possible.
  • The commercial success of the school as defined by pupil occupancy, the rigorous management of costs and the development and implementation of growth plans as appropriate.

Benefits

  • They provide their staff with a diverse range of benefits that support their day to day needs both at work and outside of work. These include:
