The Inclusion Team is a highly successful team led by the Special Educational Needs co-ordinator (SENCo) and managed by the Deputy Headteacher: Quality of Education. The Team includes one Inclusion Officer: SEND and a number of Teaching Assistants. At present there are 21 students with Educational Health & Care Plans and there are approximately 180 students on the Special Educational Needs Register. Since being revalidated with the Inclusion Chartermark, which gave us an opportunity to share and celebrate our inclusive practice, the team has continued to maintain and build highly successful relationships with faculties and staff in school. The input and achievement of our Teaching Assistants is greatly valued by staff, students and parents/carers. The HLTA will work directly with the English faculty to support individual and/or small groups of students, particularly as part of our literacy and phonics intervention strategies.
The successful candidate will have :
- Appropriate qualification to degree level (or equivalent)
- GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths
- Desire to work towards the HLTA qualification or other training relevant to subject specialism (such as phonics training)
- The ability to enthuse, inspire and motivate students
- Experience of teaching in small groups or tutor settings.
- Recent work in a school or other organisation dealing with young people with additional educational needs.
- Experience of improving outcomes for young people
