Job Title:        Occupational Therapist

Location:        The Greater Horseshoe School and School For Inspiring Talent, Devon, South West

Salary:           up to £37,350 per annum (dependent on experience) full time equivalent. Actual salary up to £33,471 per annum (dependant on experience) term time contract.

Hours:           37.5 hours per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm 

Contract:        Permanent, Term Time only (41-week contract)

Essential:    Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle required

About the role

Are you an experienced clinician excited to work during times of transformative change? Or a therapist looking to specialise their skills and experience? Are you experienced, or have a keen interest, in working with the challenges associated with neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD), complex and developmental trauma and complex needs? Do you want to help create a nationally important resource with the substantial backing of one of the leading providers of education and care for young people with SEN? If so, we have the role for you! We’re looking for an Occupational Therapist to join us at Outcomes First Group.

The post holder will progress the OT specific therapeutic services where the needs of individuals varying support needs, many with a diagnosis of autism as well as associated needs such as complex and developmental trauma. Needs are complex and require a systemic and formulation-based approach.

You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary well-being and therapeutic services team which is required to meet the needs of the young people at The Greater Horseshoe School and School for Inspiring Talents, Newton Abbott. The team includes Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Therapies Assistant and other appropriate professionals and services. Someone with a holistic and integrated approach to care, education and clinical services would be perfect for this role.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for a practitioner who has a clear vision of what outstanding therapeutic services look like. You would need to demonstrate drive, motivation and resilience, and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and build consensus.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification
  • Registered with the HCPC 
  • Training in sensory integration, preferable
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of working with adults and/or children who are autistic or who have an intellectual disability and/or additional needs (e.g. complex trauma, mental health needs, behaviours of concern)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of key partners
  • Able to work sensitively with people and resolve conflict effectively
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the setting
  • Substantial and relevant post-qualification experience with adults.
  • Experience of lecturing/teaching/training
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Skills in the management of data are also important as the role includes collecting and analysing data to inform various pieces of service delivery, development and project work.
