Job overview

Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools are currently recruiting for an Interim HR Manager to join the HR department on a maternity cover basis for 12 months from December 2024 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The role is full time, working 36.25 hours with a salary of £50,517. While the role is based at Stewart Melville College, Queensferry Terrace, Edinburgh it also covers our Ravelston site and therefore travel between sites is a requirement.

The purpose of the role is to have overall responsibility of managing all operational HR matters and will include such duties as:

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day HR operations and services
  • Provide leadership and direction to the HR team
  • Oversee the provision of expert advice, guidance, and coaching to staff and line managers on HR-related matters.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement of HR systems, processes and practices.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of workshops and training sessions on HR-related topics.


The successful candidate must have:

  • Extensive experience in a HR generalist role
  • Strong legal knowledge in an employee relations context.
  • CIPD qualified to Level 5 or above (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

Eligibility
