Grade 9 SCP25 – SCP28 – starting salary £30,356.31 rising to £32,685.05 through incremental progression
Permanent, Term Time only to Include Inset Days
37 hours per week, Monday -Thursday 08:30hrs – 16:30hrs Friday 08:30 -16:00hrs to include a 30-minute unpaid break

Job purpose:
- To effectively manage and lead the Inclusion Centre
- Support and encourage Downlands ethos, values, policies and procedures by successfully ensuring students uphold the highest standards of behaviour in the inclusion unit
- Create a bespoke program for identified vulnerable learners.
- To support children to re-engage with their learning and to build their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and academic attainment.
- To help develop and implement Alternative Provision curriculum and intervention strategies, including a remote learning option
- Manage key documentation for the Inclusion Centre
- Work with external agencies that help provide a program for vulnerable learners.
- Work with specialised colleagues in SEND department, Pastoral team and SEMH specialists

About Downlands Community School
Headteacher - Mark Wignall
Downlands Community School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary for students aged 11-16 in Hassocks, West Sussex at the foot of the beautiful South Downs, 6 miles north of Brighton. It is a state community school with a governing body of 15 volunteers. The school currently provides 1,200 secondary places when fully subscribed.
The school has undergone extensive renovation, with a state-of-the-art teaching block, IT rooms, Music Suite and Dance Studio. Headteacher Mark Wignall was appointed in September 2016. Our Amphitheatre opened in 2019 and offers the potential for multiple different uses, from outdoor lessons and school productions to rehearsal space for local amateur dramatics groups.

Downlands Community School places learning at the heart of everything that we do. It focuses on valuing the surrounding environment, preparing students for 21st-century society through innovation and creativity, and educating students socially and emotionally, while striving for self-improvement and exceeding expectations.
